Summer Swim Season is quickly approaching!! Register young swimmers ages 5 – 18 for the Ford’s Colony Killer Whales Swim Team. All levels and abilities welcome. Summer swim is designed to be a fun and challenging atmosphere. Swimmers will learn to become efficient in all four strokes: freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly.

Registration runs April 26 – May 14. The online registration form will be located on Team App under the 2021 REGISTRATION link and will require credit card payment. The cost is $145 per swimmer. A Killer Whales team t-shirt and swim cap is included in the registration fee.

All swimmers new to the team will be required to attend a placement session with the coaches the last week in May. New swimmers will get in the water and swim the length of the pool. This will allow the coaches to place each swimmer in the proper practice based on ability and safety. We’re hopeful to have a Super Team this season. We are at the mercy of state mandates and Ford’s Colony pool regulations and will know more in the coming weeks.

Swim Practice Schedule is as follows:

June 1 – June 18 (afternoon practice)
High School – 4 – 5pm
Elementary – 5 – 6pm
Middle School – 6 – 7pm
Note: Super Team starts on June 21 in morning practice

June 21 – July 23 (morning practice)
Ages 13 – 18, 8 – 9am
Ages 9 – 12, 9 – 10am
Ages 8 & under, 10 – 11am
Super Team, 11 – 11:30am

July 26 – July 30 (practice for those that qualify for the Champs Meet, July 31)

Killer Whales will compete in five (5) dual swim meets throughout the summer, all on Monday nights: June 21, 28, July 5, 12, 19. The Summer Awards Meet will be on Saturday, July 24 at Queens Lake. The Championship Meet will be on Saturday, July 31 at WISC. See Team App SCHEDULE for details on each meet as more information becomes available.

Killer Whales have a new team suit for the 2021 swim season; Speedo Infinite Pulse in black/white. A solid black suit is also an option if your swimmer prefers. We’ve teamed up with Swim & Sport Stop in Newport News to order team suits and swim accessories. Call or visit them right away to guarantee your swimmer has a team suit at the start of the season.
