Another Opportunity to Attend Officials Training!

14 Jun 2021 by VP FCST

Officials Training – Tonight and Tomorrow!

Officials have the option of reviewing the VPSU Training Presentation online (see “Officials Training” link at vspu.swimtopia.com/links) or attending an in-person training session with Q&A. Sessions are still open for June 14 and 15 at the Queens Lake Clubhouse (7:30)

New S&T judges are to complete their training by shadowing an experienced judge for at least one meet. (More if the Meet Referee feels it would be helpful.)

USA Swimming certified officials do not need to attend a training session. Experienced VPSU/High School refs should coordinate training with their teams’ Meet Referee to determine if a refresher shadowing session is needed (or some other refresher)

Verification of S&T training is the responsibility of each team’s Meet Referee. New Meet Referees may want to attend one of the training sessions June 14 or 15. At a minimum, they should coordinate with their opponent to shadow an experienced ref from the other team for the first meet or two before taking on this responsibility. Please contact ted.lynch03@gmail.com for assistance identifying a shadowing partner if your first meet opponent cannot help you.

There is no in-person training for scorers. Links to assistance with using Swimtopia and the scoring rules can be found at vpsu.swimtopia.com/links under “Swimtopia Scoring” and “Scorer’s Packer”)

Scorers (and coaches) looking for assistance with Meet Maestro should review the online training materials provided by SwimTopia. Scorers should review the scoring rules provided on the VPSU website.
